In order to ease the climate of tension that reigns at the University of Ngaoundéré, Professor Jacques Fame Ndongo went there last week. The Minister of State, in charge of Higher Education, met with representatives of the students of the School of Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (ESMV), on the campus of the University of Ngaoundéré, theater of strike movements since last April 08th.

A meeting that aimed to listen again to the demands of the strikers and to negotiate the end of the strike. It brought together, besides the Minister, the administrative staff of the University of Ngaoundere and the students of the ESMV. At the end of the talks, the strikers pledged themselves to Pr. Jacques Fame Ndongo, to put an end to their mood swings, after having obtained guarantees from the Minister in charge.

"We are going to take classes as you see fit to see all the achievements and to have a hint of hope that someday things will change in our school. And we see that change is already there, " said Bruce Koumba, as spokesman for ESMV students.

"It's an oath you take, a firm commitment," said Professor Jacques Fame Ndongo. Which proceeded to the installation of Mamoudou Abdoulmoumini, appointed to the post of Director of the EMSV, thanks to a decree of the President of the Republic signed on April 16, 2019. The Master of Conferences replaces André Zoli Pagnah, who will not have resisted a third strike in the space of 6 months.

A promise of calm that may come to end more than a week of strike on the campus of the University of Ngaoundere. Even though the strikers had planned to continue their demonstrations until May 27. In any case, that was provided for in the strike declaration addressed to the Rector of the University of Ngaoundere, on April 8th.

Among the demands, EMSV students are demanding more classrooms. To which the administration responded by temporarily making some rooms available, pending the completion of the construction of a building which will have to house additional classrooms.

The strikers also demand more teachers and a more efficient academic path, especially in the programming of the defenses. On this specific point, the Minister responsible had prescribed the defense of the students at the end of the course on January 15th. Only 5 students were able to present their work on February 7, while the majority had still not supported, on April 8, 2019.
