About a hundred houses were set on fire this weekend in the locality of Aschigachia, in the Far North region, the local newspaper L'oeil du Sahel reports on Monday, January 21, 2019. The Guibai Gatama's newspaper attributes these abuses to terrorist group Boko Haram.

"99 houses were burned by Boko Haram in Aschigachia", we learn. "Seven people were also injured in this terrorist attack," says the tri-weekly.

Information confirmed by the Cameroon Radio and Television (CRTV), the state radio. The public channel speaks of "a major attack of Boko Haram in Aschigachia". Lamenting the burning of "dozens of houses" by members of the jihadist group.

However, no loss of life has been recorded. Only the material losses are enormous for the inhabitants of the locality.

"We are in a difficult situation to describe. Seeing our homes go totally in smoke and ending up with the whole homeless family with sometimes eight, nine people under his responsibility is not easy, "said Perevet Boukar, member of the vigilance committee of the village of Aschigachia.

This attack marks yet another incursion of Boko Haram in the far north. Calling on the Cameroonian security forces to maintain the security apparatus in the region.

If indeed, "thanks to the courage of our population and the bravery of our Defense and Security Forces, the threat of Boko Haram has been significantly reduced in the Far-North region, recent attacks by this terrorist group reveal however the need to maintain a high level of vigilance, " said the Head of State, Paul Biya, during a speech at the Military Academy (EMIA), on 18 January.
